I was an instructor for Arthur Murray York for two years. I left only because I moved away and then had my little girl. I do miss dancing. Anyone can learn to dance, but the real reason for learning to dance is different for every person. I have always enjoyed music and dancing (when I was in my pre-teen years I took ballet, tap, and jazz), so when I saw an add in the paper that a local studio was looking for instructors, I thought it would be a great way to learn ballroom without having to take lessons. And I was right. No one takes dance lessons to learn to dance. That’s the outcome - you take dance lessons to gain courage, to become more comfortable dancing, for exercise, for social enjoyment. And in my case, to find another outlet for my musical background.
If you want to get involved in the world of ballroom dance, here’s a link to the studio where I taught. You’ll never regret learning to dance and you’ll be able to dance for the rest of your life!

Every year, the York and Lemoyne studios host a Showcase in March. When I was teaching, I participated in the Showcase with students, but now I am a videographer (with my husband - please visit his site Planet501 for more information). We also provide videos for the Chesapeake Ball held by the Severna Park Studio.
In 2007 I danced a West Coast Swing with another ex-teacher, Ed Eck. We recorded one of our rehearsals so I could share it here. Please click on the movie icon to view the segment.
with Ed Eck, my first solo routine, Waltz to Rainbow Connection
with Tim Hippert, an Argentine Tango danced at training (with only thirty minutes or so to learn the formation)
with Ed, Tango to Por Una Cabeza
